Test 141 general information

Test 141 is IBM's XML certification (IBM Certified Developer - XML and Related Technologies). This certification expects strong understanding of XML fundamentals; knowledge of XML and related technologies. It also tests the understanding of information modeling with XML, XML processing, XML rendering.
You need a thorough knowledge of core XML related W3C recommendations and specifications. Detailed Objectives talks further about what you should expect in the exam.

About actual exam
This is multiple-choice exam. Exam will also tell you how many choices form the correct answer. For better score, follow the exam objectives closely.
Don't forget to read XML related recommendations such as XML Signature, XLink and XPointer, DOM Level 3 along with the major ones such as XML Schema, XSLT, DTD, etc.
This certification tests your knowledge of information modeling, so be prepared to answer B2B scenario type questions. Such questions are few and usually have lengthy problem definition. You should be quick reader to answer such questions in due time.


Systematic Approach

• Please check out resources section for good XML books and resources for preparation. Make sure to study XML-related standards.
• Once you are sure you are done with enough theory, take as much XML practice exams as possible. You will find good (slightly tougher ones!) practice exams at Witscale's test center. IBM's ICE cetertification exam site also provide practice test.
• When you will start scoring consistently above 80% in practice exams, you are probably ready to take the final one.
• IBM conducts its certifications exams through different test centers such as VUE and Prometric testing centers.
• You may register for the exam at www.2test.com and find the nearest test center. Call the Prometric test center to schedule the exam. Visit IBM's certification site for more details.
• Please note that this exam is multiple choice with 57 question in 90 minutes. It gives you on an average 1.5 minute per question. But you can skip difficult questions and come back to them later. Make sure to mark the questions you skipped so when the time permits, you can attempt them.
• You may also finish the exam prematurely. The results are displayed almost immediately.
• You will receive the paper certificate from IBM within weeks.
